Today Haze and myself make a road trip north in search of big fish. Whitefish are becoming a very popular option in the winter months. They are a strange fish due to the way they feed on different bodies of water. They can react to lures like a trout or like a bluegill depending on the lake and what these fish are feeding on. We started out fishing a variety of lures and over the coarse of a day figured out they were feeding on small minnows and bugs. Surprisingly so were the lake trout. Big fish on light line.....it doesn't get much better when ice fishing. Next time you are planning an ice fishing trip give the untapped lakes a shot. You never know what might be in those lakes that are off the beaten path.
