Hundreds of spectator boats throng the bays of Sydney Harbour to view the famous fireworks.
After the fireworks have ended, the authorities clear the harbour of fireworks barges etc to provide a clear passage for the boats to return to their home mooring.
The all-clear is given and then it all happens! The race home is on!
This cavalcade of boats is always a spectacular part of the New Years celebrations.
The boats in the video are returning to their moorings on the western side of the Harbour Bridge. Just as many boats head home to their eastern moorings - outside this field of view.
