Relocating and downsizing from a Townhome to this Upper East Side one bedroom was a tall order. The interior design experience of the owner actually made this difficult project easier to solve, given the visual challenges inherent in the structural elements.

Beams chopped up heights of the kitchen and former dining room. Opened the kitchen entrance and created a design focused on disguising their existence behind the cabinetry and included a corner office built on the same wall in the same custom cabinetry and finishes as the kitchen to integrate the rooms without combining them. We removed all traces of the former wall/ surface elements, redesigned the electrical plan incorporating existing soffits, created custom friezes and crowns to match existing and updated fixtures only in the bath. We replaced doors and door hardware, refinished bedroom floors to match the living room. We removed the old AC/Heating units to new through the wall units with custom cover, upgraded the breaker panel and finished the project with the perfect paint job. It’s so exciting to create the perfect “respite” this couple wanted and we hope it continues to do so through their sunset years!!
