What is a cannibal dread?
Often when your client has not had a great deal of length maintenance, you will see what we like to call cannibal dreads. This is an issue that will need urgent attention. A cannibal dread is when the bottom loose end attaches itself to the top or mid section of the dread length, creating a ball or large bulbous end. Your client will lose all their length and it can also, if left without attention, cause extreme matting and scalp conditions
The way to deal with this issue will depend on the amount of time the client has had the problem. If it has been a long time,, you will need to address any buildup or scalp oils in the dread, you can use a small amount of wax removal for this. Again combing out, using the end of your hook, until you have a long length, that can be re-dreaded.
