When Milan's Ivan Capelli signed for Italian institution Ferrari in 1992, he would've held lofty ambitions of matching the ambitions of alumni like Niki Lauda, Juan Manuel Fangio or compatriot Alberto Ascari, and bringing a world title back home to Maranello. Based on his standout performances in the midfield across the past few years, many felt that was a realistic prospect.
Instead, what followed was one of the worst years for a Ferrari driver in living history, an experience Ivan calls "a nightmare, from day two". Things went so badly, that not only was Ivan's 4-year deal torn up before the year's end, but within 18 months of signing his Ferrari contract, his F1 career was over entirely.
