Odisha flood relief crisis: villagers reject dry food in Bhadrak | Baitarani flood update

Описание: The flood situation in Bhadrak district, continues to worsen as villages under Bodak Gram Panchayat in Tihidi block remain marooned due to the overflowing Baitarani River. Flood-affected residents have alleged that the dry food supplied by the administration is insufficient for families who have been stranded for the past three days.

According to local residents, families with five to six members are receiving only limited quantities of flattened rice, puffed rice, and jaggery, which they claim is inadequate to sustain an entire household. Some families reportedly returned the relief materials in protest, demanding proper assistance.

Residents said they had already raised the issue with the Sarpanch, Samiti Member, and Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO). They also pointed out that Bodak Gram Panchayat, with 22 wards and nearly 8,000 residents, requires far more relief materials than what has been supplied so far.

The block administration has stated that relief is being distributed based on available stock and assured that additional supplies will be sent once fresh stock arrives.
