Solo Backpacking The Pharoah Lake Wilderness - Alone On the Mountain

Описание: A cinematic nature film documenting my four day three night expedition in the Adirondacks of upstate New York. Filmed in 4k with Go Pro Hero 11 at 24 fps. On this journey I began from the Putnam Pond Campground on the edge of the Wilderness and set in for Pharoah Lake in the heart of this beautiful heavily forested tract in the Eastern Adirondacks. I spent a perfect evening camped right by the lake shore and enjoyed the setting sun, the haunting sounds of loons on the lake, and then a star filled dark sky evening above. I woke early on day two and continued around the 440 acre lake before reaching the summit of Pharoah Mountain the highest point in the wilderness. I next began a climb to the top of the mountain that featured a grueling 1,355 feet of vertical ascent over 1.2 miles. I reached the summit but was unnaturally fatigued. Feeling extremely exhausted, I scrapped my plan to descend down the backside of Pharoah deeper into the wood and instead chose to camp on the mountain summit. The views were divine - some of the very best I have ever seen. Two young men who had camped the previous night had left me a healthy pile of firewood for which i was eternally grateful. I spent the afternoon into early evening gazing out at the views - there were four vistas in all near the summit - each one viewing in a different direction. Dusk turned into evening... the fire kept me company my only companion on the lonely but hauntingly beautiful mountain. On the morning of day three my health continued to decline. I made the painful decision to abandon my intended looping route and instead return down to Pharoah Lake. I slowly made my way around the lake's wilder and less used western side. I was moving very slowly but moving none the less. I reached a waterfall and filled up on water. I made it to a lean-to at Grizzle Ocean Pond for night three where again i had a quiet peaceful evening. Although not the trip I had intended, I made the best of the situation and gained some valuable insights in the process.
