DAT Universe opens a long-sealed chapter of 90s psychedelic history with this archival release by Lory, the Goa trance project of Greek producer and DJ Kostas Kanlis.

Kostas first emerged from the late-80s punk scene in Thessaloniki, then dove headfirst into breakbeat, hardcore, and early rave culture as DJ Lory. A decisive turning point came in 1993, when a formative trip to London exposed him to the earliest Goa and psychedelic trance gatherings, meetings with key scene figures, and the raw spirit of a new underground movement. He returned to Greece transformed — now fully devoted to psychedelic trance.

By the mid-90s, he began producing his own material using a distinctive hardware setup including Korg Prophecy, Roland Juno 106, Novation Bass Station, Waldorf Microwave and Ensoniq samplers, crafting psychedelic and exploratory tracks both solo and in collaboration with fellow producers. Multiple project names emerged from these sessions, and the music evolved through home studios, mountain retreats, and late-night experiments captured on DAT.

For decades, these recordings existed only as private tapes shared among a small circle of DJs and friends: never officially released, yet remembered by those who heard them.

Now restored and curated, this album reveals a vibrant slice of the Greek psychedelic underground: analog warmth, inventive arrangements, and the fearless spirit of a scene still being invented in real time, a rediscovered collection of incredible tracks from Goa trance’s golden era.

The album was released on the 14th of February 2026. The album comes with a fantastic collection of flyers, available only with the Bandcamp purchase as a bonus item.
