In 1992, Grampian Regional Transport took delivery of K1 GRT, an Alexander Cityranger-bodied Mercedes-Benz O405G which aimed to set new standards for bus travel. A follow-up order for ten more did not come to fruition, and the bus remained unique as the only high-floor O405G in the UK. In late 2020, Mercedes-Benz articulated buses returned to Aberdeen in the form of Citaros transferred from First York. CBW was invited to compare the two generations of buses.
