Das 110 Meter lange Schiff mit einem speziellen Niedrigwassertiefgang von 1,20 m und einem Ladevolumen von 3.250 m³ ist auf den umweltfreundlichen Transport von verflüssigten Gasen wie Propylenoxid, C-3/C-4-Gasen und Ammoniak ausgelegt. Es verfügt über ein diesel-elektrisches Antriebssystem und ist „Future-Fuel-Ready“, z. B. für Methanol. Der Bau erfolgte in Kooperation mit De Gerlien van Tiem B.V. und Severnav Shipyard SA. Die „GAS 96“ steht für Versorgungssicherheit, Emissionsreduktion und Effizienz bei extremen Wasserständen.

The GAS 96 is the third innovative gas tanker from HGK Gas Shipping GmbH and marks a milestone in sustainable inland waterway transport. The 110-metre-long ship with a special low-water draught of 1.20 metres and a loading volume of 3,250 cubic metres is designed for the environmentally friendly transport of liquefied gases such as propylene oxide, C-3/C-4 gases and ammonia. It has a diesel-electric propulsion system and is ‘future fuel ready’, e.g. for methanol. It was built in cooperation with De Gerlien van Tiem B.V. and Severnav Shipyard SA. The ‘GAS 96’ stands for security of supply, emission reduction and efficiency at extreme water levels.
