A Toronto real estate lawyer is sharing his story about alleged scammers who approached him looking to finalize the sale of their home. The only problem: it wasn’t theirs.
Niroosan Vivekanantharajah says the thieves seemed like “perfect clients” and that the sale almost went through – until he was contacted by the bank.
He said the bank manager told him the account “was so new” that there were no other transactions and that the client’s ID was also flagged as a potential fake.
Shallima Maharaj explains how he stopped the fraud and his advice for potential homeowners to ensure they don’t become a target of title fraud.
