the COB: record reset

Описание: With Nvidia reassuring global investors, the S&P/ASX 200 extended its rally this Thursday, to reset a closing record of 9,175.30 points, a gain of 0.51%.

The local tech sector was once again higher, supported by Nvidia’s results. The chip designer reported record revenue, and expects fiscal first-quarter sales of US$78 billion. Our IT sector rose 5.4%.

BHP also lifted the market, with a 2.2% daily gain amid continued interest in the resources space. Although the gold miners suffered from some profit-taking.

And reporting season kept delivering strong share price moves.

Among the stocks in the green, IDP Education sprung 7.6%. The group said it can boost its bottom line by focusing on higher margins in student placements, as well as English testing.

DroneShield soared by 8.9% on the signing of six separate contracts valued at $21.7 million.

Flying in the other direction, Qantas descended by 9.2%, after reporting a sharp cost increase in the first half. The airline also stated it continues to monitor the economic situation in the US.

This Friday will mark the end of the official reporting season period. The ASX, Macquarie Technology, Boss Energy and Virgin Australia are among companies reporting.
