So a student visa is basically a temporary visa or, what we call in the business, a non-immigrant visa as opposed to immigrant, which would be somebody that wanted to stay on a permanent basis. So you're telling the government by coming on an F-1 student visa that you're planning to come here, get your education, and then leave at the end of your stay. Whereas the immigrant process, or the green card process, is a different intention, right? It's the intention to stay on a permanent basis and live here, make a life here, right? It's family here, work here, those kinds of things. So those are a little bit different from each other, but there are certainly paths that lead from the student visa into permanent residence if that's a goal for someone who's come here as a student.
