The first public HBCU, Cheney University in Pennsylvania was established in 1837, and they have been a standard of academic excellence ever since, producing generations and generations of leaders, engineers, and innovators. And while we acknowledge that quality education is paramount to the HBCU experience, there are other unforgettable components of black college life that provides lifetime memories for its alumni: Black Culture, Homecomings, Marching Bands, Greek Life, thrilling athletics, famous alumni, and an “on-the-yard” experience that feels like a daily celebration.
