The first set photos confirm what many fans were hoping for: a grounded, cinematic take on the Zelda world. Zelda appears in elegant blue robes inspired by Breath of the Wild, mixing royalty with a battle-ready edge. Link, meanwhile, looks straight out of Twilight Princess with a darker green tunic and rugged gear that feels practical for real adventure.

Production just officially kicked off, and the cast includes Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Zelda. Fans also suspect that Dichen Lachman might be playing Impa after spotting a look-alike in early set leaks, though Nintendo hasn’t confirmed that yet.

The movie is being produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad, directed by Wes Ball (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes), with a script by Derek Connolly (Jurassic World). Nintendo has set the theatrical release for May 7, 2027, and has hinted at a steady stream of game-to-film adaptations following the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

With Zelda now joining Nintendo’s growing cinematic universe, and a Mario Galaxy sequel already on the way, it’s clear Nintendo isn’t slowing down. Whether you’re a longtime fan or brand-new to the series, this first look is a major sign that Hyrule is about to get bigger than ever.
