This is my male Brazilian Red & White Tarantula (Vitalius Chromatus) formerly known as Nhandu Chromatus, that a depressed friend gave me. This is a medium sized 5 - 7 inch terrestrial new world endemic to Brazil and Paraguay. They absolutely love to eat! They are quite skittish, they have urticating hairs and will bite if provoked. HANDLING NOT RECOMMENDED DUE TO THEIR HIGH PREY DRIVE! The Brazilian Red & White Tarantula is also called the White Striped Birdeater Tarantula. They are occasionally confused with the Brazilian Whiteknee Tarantula (Acanthoscurria Geniculata) but the Red & White is more of a dusty color.
