File the claim… or self-pay?
Some situations are obvious. A major accident, a fire, a serious injury? File the claim. No question.
But it’s those in-between situations where people get burned. Small injuries that turn into big ones. Minor damage that comes back later as a lawsuit. Or self-paying something only to have the carrier deny it when you try to report it after the fact.
Insurance companies track frequency just as much as dollar amounts. Too many “small” claims can cost you far more at renewal than you ever collected.
Bottom line: don’t guess.
These decisions have long-term consequences on cost, availability, and your experience mod.
