Описание: We celebrated Tết (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) for the very first time in Hội An — and nothing could have prepared us for it.

What started as a peaceful visit to Vietnam’s lantern capital quickly turned into something much bigger. The old town came alive with colour, incense, traditions, offerings, and thousands of people gathering to welcome the new year.

Tết is the most important celebration in Vietnam — a time for family, ancestor worship, lucky money, new beginnings, and fresh starts. Streets fill with flowers, homes are decorated with kumquat trees and peach blossoms, and temples glow with candlelight late into the night.

But in Hội An, it felt different.

The energy was intense. The crowds were overwhelming. And yet, beneath the chaos, there was something deeply meaningful about witnessing such an important cultural moment as outsiders.

In this video, we experience the atmosphere of Tết in Hội An’s Old Town, traditions and rituals of Lunar New Year, and the surprising reality of celebrating during Vietnam’s biggest holiday

It was loud. It was beautiful. It was a lot.
