1971 Allied Seabreeze 35 Citation — A $24K Atlantic Contender | Full Tour
Could a $24,000 classic offshore cruiser really be considered for an Atlantic crossing? Today we take a hard look at a 1971 Allied Seabreeze 35 — a Finisterre/Sparkman & Stephens inspired design that surprised us in all the right ways. This tour is a little different because one of our consulting clients not only is considering buying this boat for an Atlantic crossing, he came all the way from Norway to have a look at this boat and 5 others. He also stood in as our cameraman!
Designed and built to behave when the weather turns, the Allied Seabreeze 35 carries unmistakable offshore DNA.
Designed by MacLear & Harris and modeled after the legendary Sparkman & Stephens No. 1054 Finisterre, this keel/centerboard cruiser combines traditional lines with practical versatility — stiffness from a 4,000-lb lead keel paired with shoal draft access when the board is raised.
At just 3'10" board-up draft, she opens up harbors many offshore boats can’t reach. Drop the centerboard and she tracks beautifully to weather while retaining the easy manners of a long-keel hull in a following sea.
This particular boat came onto our radar while helping a client evaluate several offshore-capable cruisers — and at $24K, she immediately demanded a closer look.
At the time of filming, she remains available.
She far exceeded expectations.

Why Boats Like This Matter
Older Allied builds represent a different era of yacht design — solid fiberglass construction, purposeful hull shapes, and offshore manners drawn before rating rules reshaped modern forms.
This isn’t a marina showpiece.
It’s a boat designed to keep moving when the breeze builds.
