Villaviciosa es un concejo de la comunidad autónoma del Principado de Asturias (España), una villa, capital del concejo. El concejo limita al norte con el mar Cantábrico, al sur con los concejos de Sariego, Nava, Cabranes y Piloña, al oeste con los de Gijón y Siero y al este con el de Colunga
Es conocido por la calidad de su sidra y por la abundancia en pumaraes (manzanos). En la Edad Media se denominó Pola de Maliayo, topónimo que dio lugar al conocido gentilicio de maliayés. El topónimo actual «Villaviciosa», significa «villa fértil».
El concejo está hermanado con Villaviciosa de Odón, Madrid. Su ría es la mayor de Asturias. Hay un importante puerto pesquero en Tazones.

Villaviciosa is a municipality in the autonomous community of Asturias (Spain), a town, capital of the council. The council limited the north by the Cantabrian Sea, the south with the municipalities of Sariego, Nava, Cabranes and Piloña, west to Gijon and Siero and east to Colunga
It is known for the quality of its cider and abundance in pumaraes (apple). In the Middle Ages it was called Pola de Maliayo, name that gave rise to the adjective of maliayés known. The current name "Villaviciosa", meaning "fertile village".
The council is twinned with Villaviciosa, Madrid. Its estuary is the largest of Asturias. There is an important fishing port in bowls.
