Belly Fat is an ongoing problem for men and women with Thyroid disease.
The hormone called T3 gives you energy, so it’s sometimes called the gas pedal in your body. Reverse T3, abbreviated as rT3, would then be the brakes. If you have too much rT3, it can cause all the symptoms of hypothyroidism that you don’t want, like chronic fatigue, a sluggish metabolism, belly fat, and weight gain. This is easily measured in a comprehensive Thyroid Panel. Unfortunately, even endocrinologists tend to ignore it, and they may fight you if you ask to have the blood test drawn.
