草原 // THE GRASSLANDS

I thought the red canyon would continue forever.

Instead, the walls opened.

Grass stretches farther than I can see, broken only by shallow rivers and the remains of structures so large that I cannot imagine what they were built for. There are waterfalls along the canyon edges. Wildflowers grow beneath the old supports. Whatever maintained this place is long gone.

The air is warmer here.

I stopped beside the river for a while and listened.

No machines.
No transmissions.
No footsteps.

Just water, grass, and wind.

I don't know who built the structure crossing the valley, or where it leads. Tomorrow I'll follow it.

Tonight, I'm staying here.
