The JTM45 was inspired by the Fender Bassman but designed with some key differences, including KT66 or EL34 power tubes instead of 6L6 tubes.

It was famously used by Eric Clapton during his time with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. Clapton‘s Tone on the "Beano" album became the cornerstone of the blues-rock tone, significantly contributing to the development of the British rock sound and the emerging rock music of the 1960s.

The JTM45's distinctive warm and crunchy tone made it a classic and highly sought-after amplifier in the vintage amp market.
While the original JTM45 is considered a vintage classic, Marshall has also produced reissues and variations of this amplifier to cater to the ongoing demand from guitarists and collectors. Recently Marshall released their JTM studio, a 20 Watt version of that iconic amp , keeping the original cosmetics and design.
