In January 2026, a group of 12 of us travelled from Kolkata to the serene hill hamlet of Tagdah (Takdah) for a peaceful winter getaway.
Our journey began with the Padatik Express to NJP, followed by a scenic drive via Sevoke Bazaar and the Teesta valley to Woods at Cantonment Homestay, Tagdah. Surrounded by pine forests and colonial charm, Tagdah welcomed us with misty mornings and breathtaking sunrises.
We explored the quiet beauty of Tinchuley village and the tranquil Lamahatta Eco Park, where nature, prayer flags, and forest trails created picture-perfect moments. Although the Himalayan peaks remained hidden behind clouds, the fog-covered landscapes had a charm of their own.
Evenings were magical — a bonfire barbecue with live music, warm conversations, and the cold mountain air made for unforgettable memories.
On our final day, we visited Sittong, walking through orange orchards and soaking in the rural mountain life before returning to Kolkata by Saraighat Express.
