Creepy, Stylish, and Hard to Put Down 😬🖤

Today I took a look at I Hate This Place, a horror survival game with a comic-book art style, and it absolutely has my attention 🩸📖

Right away, the art style stood out. It looks and feels like a living comic book, and it perfectly complements the eerie atmosphere. The puzzles are engaging, the story is strong, and the overall presentation kept pulling me deeper into the world 👀

One of the biggest surprises for me was reaching the Ranch. Once there, the game opens up in a way I wasn’t expecting. You can actually generate resources needed for food, bandages, and even decorations for the ranch itself. That layer of progression and safety added a lot to the experience and caught me completely off guard 🏚️🌾

The story is great, and most of the voice acting is fantastic. The only exception for me was the Horned Man. In my opinion, his voice doesn’t quite fit the character. Maybe there’s a deeper reason revealed later, but for now it felt a little off 🎭

What didn’t quite land:

The shotgun feels underpowered at close range

I really wish there was a block or dodge mechanic

Healing items feel just okay, not bad, but not great

Despite those issues, I genuinely enjoyed my time with this game and fully plan to finish it. The atmosphere, style, and progression systems make this one hard to walk away from 🩸
