Puerto Rico native Concepcion graduated from the same jockey school as his fellow countryman Irad Ortiz Jr., and it is that Eclipse Award-winning rider that Concepcion most hopes to emulate.
Through May 30, Concepcion has won 32 of 225 races (14.2%) since beginning his mainland U.S. career on Jan. 19. His most lucrative win came aboard Above the Limit in a $55,500 allowance race on April 20 at Laurel Park for trainer Cathal Lynch.
