History & Evolution
• 1992 Launch: The “Bangalore Rajdhani Express” began in 1992 after the Guntakal–Dharmavaram–Bangalore line was converted to broad gauge . It started as a weekly service (train nos. 29/30).
• Frequency Increases: Through the 2000s its frequency was boosted (bi-weekly, tri-weekly, then 4x/week by 2005) as demand grew . Over time new timings and rakes were introduced to speed up the run.
• Daily Service (2017): In July 2017 the Bangalore–Delhi Rajdhani was upgraded to daily operation . It now runs 7 days a week as train 22692 (NZM→SBC) and 22691 (reverse), reflecting its popularity and importance .
Route & Schedule
• Route: Runs daily from Hazrat Nizamuddin (Delhi) to KSR Bengaluru City (Bengaluru) via Agra, Jhansi, Bhopal, Nagpur, Kazipet, Secunderabad, and other major junctions.
• Key Stops: Notable halts include Agra Cantt, Gwalior, Virangana Laxmibai Jhansi, Bhopal, Itarsi, Nagpur, Balharshah, Kazipet, Secunderabad, Raichur, Guntakal and Sai Prasanthi Nilayam.
• Departure/Arrival: Departs Hazrat Nizamuddin around 7:45–7:50 PM, arriving Bengaluru early morning (~5:15–5:20 AM next day) .
• Journey Time: Covers about 2366.3 km in roughly 33h 30m  (average speed ~71 km/h).
• Frequency: Runs daily (7 days) and is the 2nd-fastest train on the Delhi–Bengaluru sector after the Duronto Express .
Classes & Onboard Amenities
• Accommodation: Fully air-conditioned – 1A (First AC), 2A (2-tier AC), and 3A (3-tier AC) coaches . All coaches have sleeping berths (no seated/2S class).
• Sleeping & Bedding: Complimentary bedding kits (sheets, blanket, pillow) are provided. Each coach has large panoramic windows for scenic views and space to stow luggage .
• Catering: Pantry car onboard; meals and beverages are included with the ticket . Hot vegetarian and non-veg meals (dinner, breakfast, tea/snacks) are served at your seat. Additional bottled drinks and snacks can be purchased.
• Other Facilities: Toilets (with bio-toilets in newer coaches), charging ports, clean linen and curtains are standard. Staff ensure clean coaches and provide water.
• Wi-Fi: While on-board Wi-Fi is not guaranteed, IR has begun pilot Wi-Fi on premium Rajdhani rakes. (For example, the Howrah–New Delhi Rajdhani had Wi-Fi trials , and RailTel plans Wi-Fi in 50 express-train rakes .) Check the latest IR announcements for Wi-Fi availability on 22692.
