The Trains at Old Threshers, 2023 - Mount Pleasant, IA

Описание: On Labor Day weekend, there's no better way to celebrate than by making a visit to the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion! Located in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, the Old Threshers Reunion is held for 5 days leading up to Labor Day each year, and features living history on display, with volunteers demonstrating everyday life in rural America from years gone by. Perhaps some of the greatest living history in action at the Reunion is a pair of railroads, complete with their own unique collections of equipment. On the narrow-gauge Midwest Central Railroad, volunteers operate trains for passengers to ride around the main grounds, powered by 2-6-0 steam engine 6, and diesel locomotive D-9. On the standard-gauge Midwest Electric Railway, visitors can ride to the Log Village and through the campgrounds on many different cars, including streetcar 1945, interurban 320, open-air trolley 1718, and recently restored streetcar 9. While taking in all the sights trackside over four days of the 2023 Reunion, plus riding both railroads across the grounds, we'll also be visiting other popular Old Threshers attractions, including the Steam Powerhouse, carousel, and the gas engines area.
