A historic walk around one of England's last feudal villages. Hampshire walks always have a lot of history, some of it world changing but it can truly be said that what went on in this village, in this pub in 1944 changed the course of history as Dwight D Eisenhower, Field Marshall Montgomery, Bradley, Churchill, Smuts, Mountbatten , Ramsey and others gathered at the D Day Command Centre in Southwick House to plot the defeat of Adolph Hitler and the liberation of Europe. The Golden Lion was the unofficial officers mess and was also regularly visited by the late HRH Prince Phillip.
