Multiple supercells drop destructive hail from Colorado Springs through Fountain, CO area blowing out windshields of vehicles and police cars along I-25 yesterday afternoon. A flash flood / debris flow was also produced down Fountain Creek, with a majority of the runoff coming from southeast of Colorado Springs per radar estimated storm total rainfall.
I underestimated the intensity of the hail shaft while waiting for the flash flood on-foot in Manitou Springs, so had to seek shelter down wind of an obstacle as the hail size increased go golf balls. Thankfully for Manitou Springs, the majority of the rainfall happened to the southeast, with the most substantial flash flood in the fountain area.
