Here I use Stellarium to show you when and where to look for the constellations, stars, and other celestial objects that are easily visible in April through July from mid-latitudes in the Northern Hemisphere, so that you can head outside with knowledge connecting you to the sky above.
Specifically, I cover the Winter Hexagon (Taurus, Orion, Canis Major, Canis Minor, Gemini, Auriga), spring constellations (Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Arcturus), Canis Major and Minor, and the Summer Triangle (Lyra, Aquilla, Cygnus). as well as the stars and celestial objects within them (the Pleiades, the Hyades, Aldebaran, Betelgeuse, Rigel, Sirius, Procyon, Polux, Castor, Capella, Beehive, Regulus, Denebola, Spica, Arcturus, Alcor, Mizar, Polaris, Vega, Ring Nebula, Altair, Deneb, Alberio, Cygnus X-1).
Download your own copy of Stellarium from https://stellarium.org/ or try the web version at https://stellarium-web.org/. I am not associated with the developers of Stellarium: I am just a user.
About me: I am a Professor of Physics at Allegheny College, in my hometown of Meadville, PA. I've taught astronomy, astrophysics, and physics at Allegheny since 2006. My undergraduate studies were in physics at Princeton University, and my PhD is from the Department of Astronomy at Cornell University. My research students and I do work in computational astrophysics. In particular, we use hydrodynamic simulations to help determine what happens when stars collide.
