I created a movable crane to safety remove this walnut tree withing the tight urban confines of an Los Angeles Neighborhood. This is one of my all-time favorite woods to carve, as it's buttery texture yields immediately to the creative impulse - especially with chisels.
Some of the footage looses a bit of quality in the time lapse, showing the scaffolding construction - my computer was a bit older and did it's best to keep up!
The challenges of this job include working alone, so safety of both myself and the surrounding people, pets and power lines below was of paramount importance. This project took me about two weeks from start to finish. The result was some amazing pieces of raw material to carve my art projects. More posts to follow!
