Ajit Doval in Canada: India, Canada Agree on Major Security and Cybersecurity Cooperation Plan

Описание: India and Canada have taken a major step toward strengthening bilateral security cooperation following high-level talks in Ottawa between National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and his Canadian counterpart Nathalie Drouin. Both sides agreed on a shared work plan to guide collaboration on national security, law enforcement, and emerging threats.

A key outcome of the discussions was the decision to establish dedicated security and law-enforcement liaison officers in both countries. This move aims to improve real-time communication and intelligence sharing, particularly on critical challenges such as transnational organised crime, drug trafficking, and the illegal flow of fentanyl precursors.

The two nations also committed to formalising cooperation on cybersecurity policy, information sharing, and digital threat response. Additional areas of collaboration will include fraud prevention and immigration enforcement, aligned with domestic laws and international obligations.

NSA Doval also met Canada’s Minister for Public Safety Gary Anandasangaree, reinforcing political support for deeper security engagement. The developments mark a significant strengthening of India-Canada strategic trust and practical coordination, signalling a more structured and results-driven approach to tackling modern security threats in an increasingly interconnected global environment.
