Dr. Rao graduated from The University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine and completed my general surgery residency at Baystate Medical Center, the Western Campus of Tufts University in Springfield Mass. After completing my breast surgical oncology fellowship at MD Anderson in Houston, TX in 2005. Her clinical interests include early stage breast cancer, ethnic disparities in breast cancer, innovative localization techniques, patient engagement with healthcare technology, and tumescent mastectomy. She has published investigator initiated studies on the impact of mitochondrial DNA on the risk of triple negative breast cancer as well as exercise interventions performed during neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer.
Dr. Rao is the Vivian L. Milstein Associate Professor of Surgery at CUMC.
