Описание: This is one of Byrd's shorter verse anthems at just over three minutes, one soloist and organ. It sets six verses of Psalm 119 and the Gloria Patri; the soloist sings the first verse of each pair and then the choir sings the second verse, which is a fairly common way of saying or singing psalms, responsively by whole verse. The Gloria Patri is often omitted in modern worship but properly is supposed to be sung at the end of any psalm text, the Lord's Prayer, or any canticle that does not have its own doxology, such as the Magnificat; the Te Deum, for example, ends with "O Lord, in thee have I trusted, never let me be confounded" which is from Psalm 31.
