The Health & Safety Executive’s HSG274 Legionnaires’ Disease: Technical Guidance Part 2 states that any outlet “not used for a period equal to or greater than seven days” should be classed as a little-used outlet and that “for high-risk populations, e.g. healthcare and care homes, more frequent flushing may be required as indicated by the Legionella risk assessment”.

Identifying if you have any Little Used Outlets;

Who can provide you with the knowledge to maintain and identify;

Identifying who is going to be involved in the management of little-used outlets - as well as their understanding of their knowledge and what Legionella training they have received;

Establishing a process for completing the task and reviewing it.
