This video documents an Alberta independence convoy in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, following a peaceful drive from Parkland Mall in Red Deer as Albertans gathered to show visible support for self-government, democratic consent, and provincial independence. Filmed on Saturday, February 7, this is Part 3 of a three-part series, capturing real, unscripted conversations after the convoy arrived and continued to grow on the frozen lake at Lakeshore Boulevard.
By the end of the convoy, roughly 50 vehicles had joined independently. A petition signing event organized by Stay Free Alberta was taking place on the lake, with people lining up to sign. While I did not film the petition signers directly, this video captures nearby conversations with people who came out to observe, talk, and show support. These are genuine discussions between strangers who had never met before that day.
What emerges from these conversations is not anger or hostility, but something quieter and more revealing: a shared Alberta identity, shaped by culture, values, and lived experience. Despite not knowing one another, people naturally recognized one another as Albertans—through how we speak, how we interact, and how we approach disagreement. This video shows how average Albertans talk about independence when it is framed positively and discussed respectfully.
A central theme throughout the video is democratic consent and political legitimacy. Alberta independence is not presented here as rebellion or symbolism, but as a peaceful, lawful, and democratic option available when political outcomes no longer reflect the will of a people. When voting no longer changes outcomes, many begin to question whether Alberta leaving Canada may be a legitimate democratic path when consent no longer feels meaningful. These conversations explore that idea through lived experience rather than slogans.
Another recurring theme is autonomy and responsibility. Albertans in this video express a desire to align decision-making with local values, take responsibility for their future, and build systems rooted in accountability. The focus is constructive rather than destructive—independence as an opportunity to build something better, not to tear anything down.
This gathering also shows that the movement is growing organically. People arrived without coordination and yet came together peacefully around shared values. No one featured in this video knew each other beforehand, but the sense of common purpose was unmistakable.
This video is Part 3 of a three-part Alberta independence convoy series. Links to Parts 1 and 2 are included below for viewers who want the full context.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke openly, and engaged respectfully. Open, respectful discussion is how undecided people make up their minds—and how democratic movements grow.
