In this video Dave provides a broad overview on the medals of the Boer war, their origins, variants, and issuance numbers.
Note: Dave has not discussed the Queen's Mediterranean medal, as this medal was awarded to Militia soldiers who were on garrison duty in Malta and Gibraltar. The recipients of these medals never served against the Boers in South Africa .
Note 2: Naming of Medals:
Both the QSA and KSA medals were officially named on the Rim of the medal. The details noted were:
Service Number, Rank, initials, surname and Regiment (or unit served in).
Medals were mainly impressed and some were engraved.
