How can we counteract the observable rise in authoritarian attitudes and the loss of trust for democracy in European societies?
On 27 May 2025 the House of European History held a discussion and live reading by actors from the book “Authoritarian Trends and Parliamentary Democracy in Europe” by Oliver Rathkolb and Sybille Steinbacher.
Participants debated models and strategies developed to tackle the growing dissatisfaction with the functioning of democracy that came out as the key finding of the study, commissioned by editors in eight European countries.
The House of European History is a free museum in Brussels open 7/7, with an audioguide in up to 24 languages. Go to our website to plan your visit and subscribe to our events Newsletter: historia.europa.eu
