Porsche Cayman 987.2 carbon clean up. How much carbon is built up on the inlet valves after just 33000 miles. Once the Air Oil Separator, AOS valve starts to fail, the oil deposits will start to form on the back of the inlet valves, which can start to reduced the performance and in some cases cause misfires. One of the disadvantages of direct fuel injection.
To gain access to the intake valves you will need to remove the plenum chamber and inlet manifold. Once you have access to the valves and the port, I first start by gently scraping out as much as possible. After that I use some engine degreaser/brake cleaner to help remover the rest with a cloth. Warning - don't use to much degreaser as you don't want to wash this into the cylinder etc.
