Petting Wild Birds [May-14-2023]

This is likely as far as fellowship with birds can go. It requires the softest and most gentle movements that are entirely controlled and conscious. These are skittish birds and are very sensitive to the type of motion you introduce. If the movement of your hand has too much acceleration it will drive them away instantly. Birds are very delicate, which is why they do not give up their number one protective and defensive feature, taking flight, without a lot of assurance that the situation is safe.

This type of interaction with Evening Grosbeaks, Purple Finches and American Goldfinches is likely the only kind of its sort happening on the planet. This is maximum level bird fellowship, so far as I know up until this point.
