A lesson in German bureaucracy for foreigners.
A lot of immigrants are afraid of German bureacracy, and in my unpopular opinion they are for a good reason. German administrative offices can be pretty annoying. You go there, not speaking German, and you'll probably be lost. You need to apply for so many things and fill out a lot of forms when you enter this country for the first time, and really on every corner another piece of paper is just waiting to get you into trouble. It's the same for Germans. But we just learn how to deal with it from an early age. Everything is regulated, everything is on some paper somewhere. It's normal for us, even though it is annoying. And I personally believe there are probably worse countries, when it comes to paperwork (although I haven't seen one yet, but if I had to make a guess, I'd say that Austria and France suck just as hard as we do).
Anyway, in this video I am talking about some examples of bureaucracy in Germany and what to look out for when you have to deal with it. I hope this gives you a bit of an overview on the general understanding of paperwork and its importance and a feeling for what to do in similar situations.
The intention of this video is not to prepare you comprehensively. I could not possibly do that. But if you have specific questions, just put them in the comments and if I find the time, I'll totally look into it. All I want is provide a little bit of insight for immigrants in Germany. And as I said, if you take just one thing away from this, let it be to get help when you feel stuck with whatever paperwork!
