Ẹnà, otherwise known as the Yorùbá language of codes; is a medium by which private conversations are safely held. It is an old language form, which permits distortion, inversion and disordering of original Yorùbá words to establish new tones.
Sadly, the language form appears to be going extinct, in recent times. This is not farfetched from the cultural apathy that abounds in this new age and minimal communication, using the native language.
In this interview; we delve into a conversation with Mrs. Balogun - a matriarch, culture bearer and trader, on the elements of Ẹnà, the possibility of a revival and other cultural peculiarities.
