Описание: The storm had erased the road down to instinct. Snow moved sideways across the mountain highway in northern Washington, thick and blinding, piling faster than plows could clear it. Wind slammed into metal and glass like it had something to prove. Headlights appeared and vanished within seconds, swallowed by white. Out of that white came a woman on crutches, moving step by brutal step through knee-deep snow. One leg. One prosthetic locked stiff from the cold. A German Shepherd stayed tight to her side, head low, body angled into the wind like it understood the rules of survival better than most people did. A battered pickup slowed as it passed her, then sped up. A horn blared, sharp and impatient. From another truck, a window cracked just long enough for a man to shout something cruel before laughing as they drove on. Two men in a lifted rig slowed enough to stare. One shook his head. The other laughed, loud and careless, like this was a joke someone else was supposed to clean up. They saw a burden. A problem. A woman who should have known better.
