Statistical Power and Variance of Outcome

Описание: The variance in an outcome has implications on statistical power. Limited variance or homogeneity in a distribution increases statistical power and decreases the needed sample size. Extensive variance or heterogeneity in a distribution decreases statistical power and increases the needed sample size. It is good practice to overestimate the variance of an effect size so that more observations of an outcome are collected and precision of treatment effects is increased.
