Kejriwal Signals Early Punjab Polls | Bhagwant Mann Seeks Second Term | Hari Prasad
Is Punjab heading for an early election?
That is the big question after Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal hinted that the Punjab Assembly elections could be held several months ahead of schedule.
Speaking at a roadshow in Bathinda, Kejriwal claimed that he had received information suggesting the elections may be advanced from February 2027 to November 2026. While no official announcement has been made, the statement has already triggered political speculation across Punjab.
Kejriwal told party workers that if the elections are indeed preponed, AAP has very little time left to prepare. He urged supporters to start working immediately and expressed confidence that Bhagwant Mann would return as Chief Minister for another term.
The AAP leader also predicted a four-cornered contest in Punjab and launched sharp attacks on rival parties. Without directly naming them, he accused opponents of encouraging drug abuse, engaging in internal power struggles, and using investigative agencies for political purposes.
At the same event, Bhagwant Mann highlighted what he described as the achievements of the AAP government over the last four years. He pointed to schemes such as free electricity, cashless healthcare, financial support for women, and improvements in irrigation through canal water.
According to Mann, Punjab's farmers are now benefiting from better water availability, reducing dependence on groundwater and helping agricultural activities across the state.
The roadshow was attended by several senior AAP leaders, including Manish Sisodia and other state leaders, signaling that the party has already begun preparing for a major political battle.
With Kejriwal's remarks sparking fresh debate, political observers are now watching closely to see whether Punjab will indeed witness an early election or whether the polls will take place as originally scheduled in 2027.
One thing is certain: the political temperature in Punjab is rising, and all major parties are beginning to position themselves for the next big contest.
