The Provincial Council head of northern Kunduz province on Friday warned of Taliban’s possible attempt to overrun the Imam Sahib district.
Mohammad Yousuf Ayubi told Pajhwok Afghan News heavy clashes were underway between security forces and the Taliban on the outskirts of the district and if proper attention was not paid to the situation there was chances the insurgents may overrun the district.
Ayubi added, the Taliban stormed attacks from different sides and captured some areas, but security forces retake them.
Security officials, however, rejected the concern of PC and said clearing operation had been launched and the district would never fall to the militants.
