Late on December 20, the Chinese Communist
Party (CCP) Central Committee for Discipline
Inspection made an announcement on it's website.

Li Dongsheng, Director of the 610 Office and Vice
Minister for public security, is under investigation.
Li is suspected of serious violations
of party rules and state laws.
This is the first time that the investigation has been
officially confirmed, after rumors circulated in September.

Li Dongsheng was regarded as a confidant of former head
of the Central Politics and Law Commission, Zhou Yongkang.
Li's fall makes the rumors about the investigation
of Zhou Yongkang seem more likely now.

The 610 Office is also called the "Central Leading
Group on Dealing with Heretical Religions".
It is an extralegal agency, specifically established by
Jiang Zemin to execute the persecution of Falun Gong.
It is closely associated with the
Politics and Law Commission.
It has power over the public security system, courts,

Among Li Dongsheng many titles, the announcement
stressed his role as post of"Director of the 610 Office".
This is clearly to tell the world that one of the leading
perpetrators in persecution of Falun Gong has fallen.

Lin Zixu remarks that the persecution of Falun Gong
is China's current core issue in politics, and to this
day, no one has been able to bypass the problem.
Jiang Zemin and his faction have been steeped in
crimes against humanity as they enact the persecution.

exceeds any moral bottom line of humanity.
Lin says that nobody can escape retribution,
if they remain close to those slaughterers.

Attorneys Call for Reconsideration of "New Citizen Movement" Cases

On December 20, defense attorneys for the"New Citizen
Movement"cases submitted a legal opinion letter.
The attorneys include Yang Jinzhu,
Wang Xing, Lin Qilei, and Zhou Ze.
Their letter was addressed to the No. 1 Branch of People's
Procuratorate in Beijing, and District Procuratorate of Haidian.
In the letter, the attorneys addressed a combination of cases,
such as those of Xu Zhiyong, Ding Jiaxi, and Zhao Changqing.
They have all been charged by the authorities
as advocates of "Disclosing Officials' Assets".

According to Radio France Internationale (RFI), the
same legal opinion letter was also forwarded to the
Party's Supreme Court, the Supreme Procuratorate,
the municipal High Court and Procuratorate of Beijing.

The attorneys wrote in the letter about
the indictments of all the involved cases.
It was clear the prosecution organs consider the cases of
Xu Zhiyong, Ding Jiaxi, Li Wei, Yuan Dong, Zhang Baocheng,
Zhao Changqing, Hou Xin and others as a "joint crime".

On the other hand, those cases have
been forced to be handled separately.
This goes against clarity of truth.

It also violates some clear rules stated under
party law and relevant judicial interpretations


Police Seize Chinese Lawyer Certificate After Videoing Client Meeting

On the morning of December 20, Shandong
human rights lawyer Liu Weiguo visited a
detention center in Changshu, Jiangsu Province.

His lawyer certificate was seized by the police after
he refused to delete videos of a meeting with his client.

Liu then protested the police to return his
certificate, with a 10 hour hunger strike.
During those 10 hours period, nearly 30 Chinese lawyers
and others visited the detention center to express support.

Finally, Liu managed to have his
certificate returned before leaving.
His"legally-taken"video was
also brought out successfully.
