Today is the end of this a bit longer than expected (but TOTALLY worth the wait and to be honest the cost as well) journey.
Turnbull contacted me late last week saying my 1918 Black Army 1911 was finished. I paid and they shipped same day. Today was LGS pick up day.
Yes, there will be haters that totally disagree with my decision to restore this piece of history, "destroying" (in their opinion) its provenance. To each their own. I now have a 106 year old piece of American history that looks exactly like it did in 1918. It may look totally different (and much better IMO) from what it looked like in 2022, but that doesn't take away from its history what it's been through over the last 106 years. For us, a beautiful family heirloom. I'm good with that.
