Описание: Stephen M. Vantassel, host of the Wildlife Control Consultant podcast, reviews the research by Mia Mosillo, Edward J. Heske, and John D. Thompson, published in 1999 in the article titled: Survival and movements of translocated raccoons in northcentral Illinois. Journal of Wildlife Management 63(1):278-286. Their research was seeking to answer the question of how long do raccoons (Procyon lotor) live after being moved to an unfamiliar area. They studied rural raccoons moved to a rural area, urban raccoons moved to a rural area and rural residential raccoons moved within their home range which was the control. Their findings were interesting. Authors found that raccoons did have a high survival rate which they attributed to good weather and food resources.
